Bobcats send two golfers to states

The Battlefield golf team did not meet its goal of winning states or even qualifying for the state tournament as a team this season, but the Bobcats still sent two of their best to compete individually in Richmond on Oct. 14 and 15. Chad McCann, a junior, and Otto Voettiner IV, a freshman, ended up tied for 10th place in the state finals at the Meadowbrook Country Club, matching their scores at 152 over 36 holes played in two days. South County's David Ross also held the same score. Meanwhile, Adam Szwed of Woodbridge put up the best numbers for Prince William County at the tournament with a two-day score of 149 (76, 73).

Then they went on to win the Battlefield District tournament championship game on May 22 at King George against Chancellor High School, 3-0.
