Sellinger drops out of 13th district race
© Virginia News GroupOn Wednesday, Gainesville resident Donna Sellinger announced that she is dropping out of the 13th district House of Delegates race, three days after kicking off her campaign for the Democratic nomination.
The retired Army reservist and Northern Virginia Community College teacher is the second Democratic candidate to exit, following Patrick Casula's campaign termination in February. Delegate Bob Marshall (R), first elected in 1991, currently holds the seat.
"For personal reasons, I have decided that I will no longer be seeking election to the House of Delegates," said Sellinger in a statement. "A great deal of consideration has gone into this choice, and I would like to thank my supporters and ask that they understand and respect my decision. I wish my opponent all the best for November."
A press release from her campaign stated that money donated to Sellinger's campaign "will be returned."
A story about Sellinger's campaign appeared in the March 20 print editions of the Gainesville Times and Prince William Times.
