Local basketball fans planning to head out to Fairfax on Friday night for the Group AAA state quarter-finals will have a double-header as the Stonewall Jackson girls and Battlefield boys are set to play back-to-back at the same place on the same night.

Local basketball fans planning to head out to Fairfax on Friday night for the Group AAA state quarter-finals will have a double-header as the Stonewall Jackson girls and Battlefield boys are set to play back-to-back at the same place on the same night.

James Robinson Secondary (High) School (5035 Sideburn Road, Fairfax) is set to host both games.

In the girls bracket, the Northwest Region champion Stonewall Jackson (23-3 overall) takes on the Northern Region runner-up South Lakes (23-5 overall) at 6:45 p.m.

That game is immediately followed by the boys match between Northwest Region runner-up Battlefield (19-9 overall) and Northern Region champion W.T. Woodson (24-4 overall).

Whichever teams win the games on Friday will then compete in the state semi-finals on Monday, March 4 at the Siegel Center in Richmond at the Virginia Commonwealth University campus. The boys game is at 3:15 p.m. and the girls game is at 7 p.m.

The championship is set for Friday, March 8 at the same arena in Richmond. The girls play at 7 p.m. boys play at 9 p.m.
