Stewart: change Presidents’ Day observance

Prince William Board of County Supervisors Chairman Corey Stewart (R) proposed on Feb. 19 that the county eliminate two paid holidays and replace them with two others. Stewart had already advocated the county give up Columbus Day and Presidents Day as paid holidays for staff. On Tuesday, he amended his idea, saying that the county should instead observe Washington's birthday and Lincoln's birthday, both in February, as two separate paid holidays.
The proposal will be discussed as part of the overall budget process.
