Woman’s body found near Woodbridge drainage ditch

- The body of an adult woman was found in the area of Cotton Mill Drive and Griffith Avenue in Woodbridge on April 29.

- Woman wanted in Wells Fargo Bank robbery turns herself in Vicky Samantha Flores turned herself into Prince William County Police officers without incident at the Adult Detention Center in Manassas on April 27. Flores was wanted in connection to a robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank on Dale Boulevard in Woodbridge on April 5 where an unknown woman approached the bank area and passed a note implying she had a weapon and demanded money. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the area on foot in an unknown direction. On April 22, detectives from the Robbery Unit obtained warrants for the arrest of Flores who was identified as being involved in the robbery. Flores, 23, was charged with robbery with a court date on June 9. She is being held without bond.

Woman’s body found near Woodbridge drainage ditch

The body of an adult woman was found in the area of Cotton Mill Drive and Griffith Avenue in Woodbridge on April 29.

Prince William County Police believe the body to be Lizeth Yadira Lopez, 36, who was reported missing and endangered on April 19.

Prince William County Police officers arrived at the scene in Woodbridge at 10:56 a.m.

The officers located the woman's body near a drainage ditch. The body was transported to the Medical Examiner's Officer for an autopsy.

Lopez was reported missing by her family members. She was originally reported missing to the Alexandria City Police Department on April 19.

After her vehicle was located near her place of employment in Woodbridge on April 20, the case was turned over to Prince William County Police.

During the investigation, detectives learned that Lopez exited the CVS store located on Touchtone Circle around 9 p.m. on April 17. There was no known contact with Lopez after 10 p.m. on April 17.

On April 22, members of the Prince William County Police and Fairfax County Police Search and Rescue Teams, along with helicopter assistance from Fairfax County Police and canines from the Fairfax County Fire Department and Virginia State Police performed a ground search near Lopez’s work on Pond Run Drive in Woodbridge.

After an extensive search of the wooded areas near that location but nothing was found.

At this time, the department is investigating the death as a homicide.
