FP boys just miss national crown; OP girls take ‘Emerging Elite’ title
The Forest Park boys 4x100 meter relay team ended up in second place at the New Balance outdoor track and field national finals this past weekend, coming up 0.01 second out of first place in the championship round. Meanwhile, one local team did bring home some sort of gold from nationals as the Osbourn Park girls 4x100 meter relay team captured first place in the "Emerging Elite" category.
P-Nats take four out of five from Keys to close first half
Potomac (42-27) ended the first half of the season by taking four out of five games from the Frederick Keys up in Maryland, including the last game on Sunday.
Local high schools set for post-season realignment
When the games begin though at the start of the next school year, the regular season for local teams will mostly seem familiar but the post-season is when there will be major changes.
Linton Hall School fire incident
On Wednesday, June 12th at approximately 6:30 p.m., fire and rescue units were dispatched to a commercial fire at 9535 Linton Hall Road, Linton Hall School in Bristow.
Potomac Nationals clinch first-half Carolina League Northern Division crown
The Potomac Nationals minor league baseball team secured a post-season playoff spot on Thursday night with an 8-0 shutout victory on the road against the Frederick Keys. The victory clinched the first-half Carolina League Northern Division championship for the 39-26 Class A affiliate of the Washington Nationals.

Hundreds pack Hylton Center opposing Bi-County Parkway
When the Virginia Department of Transportation hosted a meeting about the Bi-County Parkway at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas on June 3, it wasn't a complete shutout in favor of opponents of the roadway like the March meeting at Bull Run Middle School. But it was the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs before any of the proponents outside of VDOT put a run on the board.
