Gainesville Burger King damaged by fire

On Sunday, February 17, at 7:29 a.m., fire and rescue units were dispatched to a reported commercial structure fire at the Burger King restaurant located in the 7600 block of Linton Hall Road in Gainesville. First-arriving units located and extinguished a working fire in the exhaust ducts for the cooking appliances. The preliminary damage estimate is $10,000.00 and no injuries were reported. Fire investigators from the County’s Fire Marshal’s Office classified the cause of this fire as accidental. Excessive grease accumulation in the exhaust ducts was a contributing factor. The restaurant will be closed until clean-up is completed, necessary repairs are made, and authorization to reopen is obtained from the Health Department and Building Official’s Office.
