Antoinette C. Murphy (nee Smith), 60, of Goldvein, VA, died on Friday, March 15, 2013 after bravely battling cancer for three years. Antoinette was born in Alexandria, LA on September 22, 1952, the daughter of Roy L. Smith and Helen (Chomicki) Smith.
Antoinette graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in New York City and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Geology from Louisiana Tech University. Antoinette served in the United States Air Force for 8 years and had a very successful career as a Geospatial Analyst with the Department of Defense for more than 20 years. Antoinette retired from federal service in April 2011.
Antoinette was married to the love of her life, James Wendell Murphy for 28 years. Jim died in April of 2009. Antoinette traveled the world and loved her family, her friends, and the Lord, Jesus Christ, for all the years of her life. Antoinette is survived by her oldest brother, George Michael Smith, and his wife, Lilibeth, her twin brother, (Frank) Lee (Smith) Robida and his life-partner, Bob Robida, her half-brother Roy L. Smith, Jr, and his wife, Carmen, her half-brother Daniel Smith, and his wife, Rose, and her half-sister Karen DeCloute and her husband, Greg. Antoinette is also survived by her Uncle and Aunt, Richie and Etta Chomicki, cousins Laura, Debra Richard, and many dear friends, especially Carol Gilio, John and Chris Jenkins and Henry and Celeste Butler.
Visitation will be from 9-10 am on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Moser Funeral Home, 233 Broadview Avenue, Warrenton, VA with funeral service immediately following at 10 am. Burial will be at noon at Quantico National Cemetery where Antoinette will be laid to rest alongside her dear husband, Jim.
