Carbon Leaf performing at The State Theatre of Culpeper

With a steady stream of independent releases in the works for 2013, Carbon Leaf’s autonomous VOYAGE has come full circle – recording and producing from their own studio and releasing their music directly to fans – starting with GHOST DRAGON ATTACKS CASTLE in February, a 12-song collection of Celtic-inspired, original tunes.
Irish folk and Gaelic influences have always peppered the band’s songs and albums for years – not to mention their energetic live shows – but GHOST DRAGON fully embraces those traditional roots from start to finish, giving the Carbon Leaf fan who loves the band’s Celtic-influenced songs (“The Boxer”, ”Desperation Song”, “American Tale”, “Toy Soldiers”, “Home”…) a new, full-blown album of all-original Celtic folk, rock and instrumental dance tunes to celebrate and sink their teeth into.
“Some call Carbon Leaf’s music, Southern, others label it Celtic and still others say it leans toward Blugrass or some combination of formats. No matter what you take on the band’s sound, almost everyone can agree that Carbon Leaf creates music that just isn’t heard anywhere else—and that’s what keeps fans clamoring for more music.”

Memories of Elvis at The State Theatre of Culpeper

100% of profit to go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Andy Wood, Top Elvis Tribute Artist from the United Kingdom
As a huge Elvis fan first and foremost, Andy Wood finds that one of the many qualities that endears him to Elvis was his great generosity and charitable nature. Of the many, many charities he supported, one of his favorites was St Jude Children’s Hospital and Research Center – the amazing brainchild of the late great Danny Thomas.
St Jude is located in the heart of Elvis’ beloved hometown, Memphis and to this day, continues to work its magic. Elvis may not be here to continue his amazing charity work but his legacy and impact on his huge fan base is stronger than ever. In some small way, if we – his fans – can help to carry on giving to this wonderful charity all these years after he sadly left us – then we can safely say we have done our job.

Taylor Rodriguez, Virginia’s Own Rising Star
Taylor Rodriguez has many attributes; he is kind, thoughtful, loving, and very talented. As an Elvis Presley Tribute Artist, the son of Hector and Donna Rodriguez, he often performs at his parents restaurant, El Cazador in Bedford, Virginia. He is a sophomore at Jefferson Forest High School. At the age of 16, he has already performed for many organizations, rescue squads, adult care centers, homes for the disabled, various charity events and at Graceland.
If you have the pleasure of watching him perform, you’ll witness him effortlessly moving to the audience, capturing the essence of Elvis Presley as he charms many adoring fans. His confidence and ease contradict his young age.
His aunt, Diane Morcom loved Elvis all her life. When Taylor was a little boy he would often stay with his aunt and she would play Elvis music for hours. About 6 to 7 years ago he took a serious interest in learning all the music and moves that made Elvis Presley the legend that he is. Diane would go to all of his shows to cheer him on. She was his biggest fan. In June 2011, she passed away suddenly. Taylor, was one of many deeply impacted by her death. He truly lost his biggest fan. He has always been driven to be the best at this role that he can possibly be. Honoring the memory of his aunt Di has made even more committed to his dream.

Rhonda Vincent, The Queen of Bluegrass to perform at The State Theatre of Culpeper

Bluegrass vocalist and fiddler Rhonda Vincent began her professional music career at the age of five, playing drums with her family’s band, the Sally Mountain Show. She picked up the mandolin at eight and the fiddle at ten, performing with the family band at festivals on weekends. After appearing on TNN’s nationally televised You Can Be a Star program in her mid-twenties, Vincent struck out on her own, singing with the Grand Ole Opry’s Jim Ed Brown, eventually leading to a deal with Rebel Records. Her work with Brown and her Rebel recordings caught the attention of Giant Nashville’s president, James Stroud, who signed Vincent to record two contemporary country albums. After her time at Giant, she moved to Rounder Records, and demonstrated her passion for the traditional music she grew up with, on Back Home Again.

A car accident in December 1999 kept her from a planned trip to Nashville for auditions, so she hired her band (unusually named the Rage) through the Internet. Rhonda Vincent & the Rage have gained popularity at bluegrass festivals since their formation, playing hard-driving, high-energy contemporary bluegrass music. Her 2001 album, The Storm Still Rages, was nominated for seven International Bluegrass Music Association awards, including Female Vocalist of the Year, while fiddle player Michael Cleveland and banjo player Tom Adams earned nominations in their respective instrumental categories. A three-year unbroken string of IBMA Female Vocalist of the Year awards led to the 2003 release of One Step Ahead, another tour, and another well-deserved showering of critical praise.

Recorded in front of a hometown crowd in St. Louis, Ragin’ Live arrived in 2005, followed by All American Bluegrass Girl in 2006, Good Thing Going in 2008, and Destination Life in 2009. After parting ways with longtime label Rounder Records, Vincent released Taken in 2010, and followed it with 2011′s Your Money and My Good Looks, a duets album with Gene Watson. Released in 2012, Sunday Mornin’ Singin’: Live! was a gospel-themed album and DVD recorded at the 100-year-old Greentop United Methodist Church in Greentop, Missouri, where Vincent first began singing in public as a child. Early in 2014, Vincent returned with Only Me, a double-disc set that showcased her bluegrass and country roots.

Volunteer Tree Planting at the K9 Gunner Dog Park Buffer

Please help us keep up the good work! We'll have about 50 trees and shrubs, plus more than 100 wildflowers to plant at the Minnieville Road buffer by the County Dog Park.

We're creating a more scenic Minnieville Road, new wildlife habitat, and protecting drinking water resources with native plants... flowers, berries, and bark. We hope you can join us to help finish this important community project. All ages welcome. Bring a smile and a shovel (if available)! Lunch is provided.
