INVITATION FOR BID NO. 13-427
LOUDOUN COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
HIGH SCHOOL NO. 8 (HS-8
Sealed bids for the construction of High School No. 8 (HS-8) in Loudoun County, Virginia (IFB 13-428) will be received at the Loudoun County Public Schools Administration Building, 21000 Education Court, Ashburn, Virginia 20148, in Room 211 on June 20, 2013 until 2:00 p.m., local prevailing time. Sealed bids will be publicly opened and read aloud immediately following receipt of bids.
The Work consists of the construction of a new Two Story High School Facility, including all associated site and site utilities work.
A pre-bid conference will be held at 1:00 p.m. on June 13, 2013 at the Loudoun County Public Schools Administration Building, 21000 Education Court, Ashburn, Virginia 20148 in Room 211. Attendance by General Contractors and Site Excavators is strongly recommended (not mandatory).Submit questions in writing at this time. Responses will be in the form of Addenda if required.
Only those General Contractors who were Prequalified to Bid will be eligible to submit a sealed bid for construction of this project. Prequalified General Contractors are:Branch & Associates, The Christman Company, Dustin Construction, Forrester Construction, Gilbane Building Company, Hess Construction + Engineering Services, and Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc.
Bidders may inspect the site during normal business hours by contacting the Owner, at (571) 252-1161 to arrange a site visit.
Procedures for submitting bids, claiming error, withdrawal of bids, and other pertinent information are contained in the Instructions to Bidders.
Obtain drawings and project manuals for the Project by submitting request and deposit by checks only, to SHW Group, LLP, 11415 Isaac Newton Square, Reston, VA 20190, Telephone: 571-521-7410.Bidding documents will be available on CD in .PDF format for a $35.00 per disk handling fee.Request and deposit must be received at least 4 days prior to receiving bids.Documents will not be distributed until deposit is received. Addenda, or notification of electronic posting of addenda with instructions for accessing them via the Internet, will be transmitted to all who are known by the issuing office to have received a complete set of Bidding Documents.Furnish an e-mail address authorized to receive notifications from the Architect. Bidding Documents (on CD) may either be picked up at SHW Group, LLP, Reston, VA office or shipped via UPS Ground at Bidders request.Bidders requesting overnight delivery of the documents will be required to pay the difference in cost over standard delivery. The Instructions To Bidders shall be considered a part of the Invitation To Bid as if included herein.
Bidders are required to comply with the provisions of the Code of Virginia, Sections 2.2-4311 and 2.2-4312 in regard to non-discrimination in employment and a drug-free work place, and Chapter 11, Title 54.1 to show evidence of Certificate of Registration before bid may be received and considered.
Pursuant to §2.2-4311.1 of the Code of Virginia, the contractor does not and shall not during the performance of the contract knowingly employ an unauthorized alien defined in the Federal Immigration and Control Act of 1986.
Each bidder shall place on the outside of the envelope containing his bid and in his bid over his signature, the following notation: ”Registered Virginia Contractor No. _____, Class ___. All bidders authorized to transact business in the Commonwealth of Virginia pursuant to Title 13.1 or Title 50 of the Code of Virginia, as amended or otherwise required by law, shall include in its bid, the Identification Number issued to such bidder by the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC).
