KINDLY TAKE NOTICE that the Town Council & Planning Commission of Haymarket, Virginia will hold a joint public hearing on the 6th day of June 2016 beginning at 7:00 p.m. local time at the Town Hall of Haymarket, 15000 Washington Street, #100, Haymarket, Virginia 20169, for the purposes of considering and recommending ordinance amendments to Chapter 58 of the Zoning Ordinance, Article IX, Signs, and the adoption of a map in connection with those ordinance amendments.

The proposed text amendments comprehensively change the sign provisions of the zoning ordinance, adopting new definitions and new regulations of sign height, size, materials, illumination, and location. The proposed text amendments eliminate content-based regulations in order to comply with recent court cases. In connection with the text amendments, the Town proposes to adopt a Sign Area map that divides the Town into a Gateway Sign Area, a Core Sign Area, and a Residential Sign Area. The Sign Area map does not affect general usage, density range, or use classification of any parcel.

The proposed ordinance amendments and Sign Area map are available for public inspection during normal business hours at the Clerk?s Office of the Town of Haymarket, 15000 Washington Street, Suite 100, Haymarket, Virginia 20169 immediately upon the advertising of this notice. All are invited to attend the public hearing at the time and place aforesaid and present their views. The hearing is being held in a public facility believed to be accessible to persons with disabilities.
