Notice of Willingness to Hold
a Public Hearing
Find out about the proposed turn lane improvements located at the intersection of Route 1 and Route 234 - Potomac Magisterial District. The proposed improvements will add an additional left turn lane to the existing westbound left turn lane along Route 1 onto Route 234. This project is funded by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and is being administered by Prince William County Department of Transportation.

In accordance with the Virginia Code §10.1-1188, Part B, the State Environmental Review Process (SERP) was administered to conclude the project was exempt from preparation of a Preliminary Environmental Inventory (PEI) under the Memorandum of Agreement between the Secretary of Natural Resources and the Secretary of Transportation executed July 31, 1990.

Right-of-way: The majority of the right-of-way (ROW) for this project is owned by VDOT. However there will be minimal ROW and easement acquisitions from two properties adjacent to the proposed improvements.

If your concerns cannot be satisfied, Prince William County is willing to hold a public hearing. You may request that a public hearing be held by sending a written request to Javier Ibe, P.E., Project Manager, Prince William County, Department of Transportation, 5 County Complex Court, Suite 290, Prince William, VA 22192 on or prior to May 6, 2014. You may also email your questions or requests to jibe@pwcgov.org. Please reference ”Route 234/Route 1 Left Turn Lane Improvements Post of Willingness to Hold Public Hearing in the subject heading. If a request for a public hearing is received, then a notice of date, time, and place of the hearing will be posted.
