AFTER SCHOOL SPECIALIST

Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation, Community Services is currently seeking applicants for an After School Specialist in our CASA (County After School Activities) program for children in grades K-5. Duties include development of childcare programs for elementary school age youth. Direct supervision of 26 or more CASA site staff at up to 10 different elementary school locations in the County, including but not limited to: hiring, training, monitoring, and evaluating the work of staff. Maintains staff and student records, assists with budget development and management, which includes participant registration and fee payments. Oversees the planning and implementation of age appropriate activities for program. Ensures state child care licensing standards are met. Substitutes for CASA site staff as needed. Maintains open professional communications with students, parents and volunteers. Provides program evaluation, public relations, and compliance standards monitoring. Assesses and identifies program needs and designs programs/activities in response to identified needs. Strong administrative and communication skills are needed. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelors degree in recreation, education or related field and at least 2 years experience operating and supervising childrens recreational and instructional activities. Programmatic experience and prior staff supervision experience required and must be indicated on application. Virginia State licensing requires one year programmatic experience. Must have certification in First Aid, CPR for adult, infant and child and a negative TB test prior to beginning work. Valid drivers license required. Successful candidate will undergo a criminal background, child protective services and credit checks. Annual DMV record check required.
