State Theatre Presents - “Creole for Kidz & The History of Zydeco”

Creole for Kidz & the History of Zydeco was created and developed by Terrance Simien in 2001 and is centered on the evolution of his indigenous zydeco music: the traditional music of the black and mixed race, French speaking Creoles of south Louisiana. We also believe that the term Afro-Creole is very appropriate when referring to Louisiana Creoles. This term was used throughout the book we highly recommend, by Gwendolyn Midlo Hall, Africans in Colonial Louisiana. The performance is accompanied by an 8-page study guide with glossary. This useful tool helps prepare students prepare for the concert performance and is available as a PDF download.
Location: State Theatre, 305 S. Main Street, Culpeper, VA 22701
