Culpeper County Schools - Kindergarten Registration for 2014-2015

If you still need to register your child for kindergarten for the 2014-2015 school year, please call the school located in your attendance zone to set up a time to register your child. Children who turn five (5) on or before September 30, 2014, are eligible to attend kindergarten. School personnel are working an extended hour, four-day week and are in the office from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Wednesday, and 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Call ahead to make sure someone is available to assist you in the registration process.

Remember to bring: your child; your child's birth certificate; your child's immunization record; custody papers if applicable; and proof of residency. Contact your family physician now to set up a date for your child's physical. Annual Tractor & Truck Pull in Orange, VA.

Gates open at 3 p.m. Registration closes at 6:30 p.m. Rain date will be June 28 at 6 p.m. Bring your own lawn chairs, no glass bottles.

Culpeper County Library Presents - “Registration for FREE Summer Reading Programs”

Registration for FREE Summer Reading Programs begins on June 17th! Children, ages birth-5th grade completed, can sign up for Summer Reading and earn prizes and parties just for reading (or being read to) at home over the summer! We have a special teen program for grades 6-11 completed. Registration is ongoing—you do not have to come in the first day.

Sign-up continues - Logs due by 7/29/14. Grades 6-11, Completed - You could win a Kindle Fire just for reading 20 hours this summer. Come into the Library to sign-up. Get a free bag, bookmark, and reading log. When you get halfway to your reading goal, come in and pick up mid-point prizes. When you reach your goal, you earn more prizes, and get to attend our ice cream party or roller skating party.

5th Annual Dash for Trash in Downtown Orange, VA

Dash for Trash is an event that is co-sponsored by the Orange Downtown Alliance and the Orange County Litter Control Committee. Dash for Trash gives residents, families, clubs, businesses, and organizations the opportunity to help clean up downtown Orange while enjoying some friendly competition with other teams. Dash for Trash is aimed at preventing future littering through increased awareness of Orange County’s anti-litter laws.

The Alzheimer’s Association’s Caregiver Support Groups

The support groups are designed to provide emotional, educational and social support for caregivers through regularly scheduled meetings. Held the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the Culpeper County Library and the 4th Tuesday of each month at the Culpeper Regional Hospital Conference Room.

Blandy Experimental Farm - “Blandy Environmental Book Club”

Blandy is hosting a new book club focused on environmental topics, natural history, and experiences in, and reflections on, the natural world. Meetings will be in the Blandy library on the fourth Thursday of each month. The reading for the first meeting is Barbara Kingsolver’s, "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle." Participants should get their own copy of the book and read it for the first meeting. Light refreshments provided. The Book Club is open to the public. If interested, call to sign up.

Itsy Bitsy Baby Storytime (Ages birth-23 months) 1st and 3rd Thursdays (May 1st and May 15th) 10:30 a.m. Bouncing, hugs and kisses, tickle time, lots of rhymes, and one book at this fun storytime. 3rd Thursdays followed by a play session with Infant Toddler Connection. 1st Thursdays followed by play time.
