The Southern Cafe & Music Hall Presents - “Moon Hooch”

Brooklyn sax-and-drums dance music trio Moon Hooch will release their second album, This Is Cave Music, on September 16 via Hornblow/Palmetto Records. It's the follow-up to their self-titled 2012 debut, which reached the top 10 of Billboard's Jazz Albums chart largely on the strength of on-tour sales as the band floored audiences nationwide with their masterful, frenetic shows.

Piedmont Softball Association - “Now Accepting Registrations for Girls For Fall 2014”

Piedmont Softball Association is accepting registrations now for ALL area girls interested in its fastpitch programs for this fall. Girls born anytime in the years 1995 through 2008 are very welcome, as well as any skill level from very experienced through basic beginner (regardless of age). Games are played at the home field on Rt. 211 in Amissville, as well as in surrounding counties and farther. The registration fee for players who did NOT play with PSA this past spring is $40.00 for a girl playing on a team 12u and younger AND $45.00 for a girl 13-18 years old ($5.00 discount for each additional player from the same household). No girl will be refused because of inability to pay. For more information and registration forms, call or send an email.

Spiritual Care Support Ministry - Five Cries of Grief

This five-day seminar covers the five cries of grief -- the cry of pain, of longing, for supportive love, for understanding and significance. Come for a better understanding of how to help yourself personally and how to help others who are on the grief journey and thus be able to promote healing and give hope for the future. Chaplain Liz Danielsen will be teaching. This is non-denominational and free.

The George Washington Foundation - “Educator Workshop at Ferry Farm”

Educator Workshop at Ferry Farm - Archaeology: The Science of History. In this interpretive workshop, educators will engage in scientific and anthropological methods used by archaeologists and historical researchers to understand artifacts and how they inform us about everyday life at the Washington home farm. Educators will work with Foundation staff to dig, identify, and analyze artifacts excavated at the house site. Workshop participants will even learn how to concoct eighteenth-century glues similar to the adhesives Mary Washington might have used to mend a broken punch bowl!

Free Concert at Lenn Park - The MoJoJam Band - (NEW DATE)

The original date for this concert was July 26 but had to be canceled due to a conflict. This is the new date for the concert. Come hear The MoJoJam band perform. All ages invited. Bring a blanket, chair and picnic and enjoy a summer evening concert of rockin' blues with family and friends. No admission fee. Lenn Park also has a covered picnic area with tables, a playground, a professional horse shoe pit and a volleyball court, so come a little early and enjoy all the park has to offer. MAD Arts Presents - “Summer Art Camp”

SUMMER ART CAMP!!!!!!! Yes, it's that time again. We have two full weeks of ART CAMP scheduled for students ages 6 +. July 21 - 25 (week # 1) is International Week. August 11 - 15 (week # 2) is Medieval Week. This full-day camp is outstanding! Students will learn, create, play, sing, dance, act, journal, draw, paint, sculpt, laugh, (hopefully not cry), build self-confidence and make new friends along the way. Enrollment is limited to 24 students. Applications are available to be picked up at MAD Arts. Classes are divided into two age groups: 6 - 9 and 10+. The National Capitol Squadron Open Hangar Day

The National Capitol Squadron of The Commemorative Air Force hosts a monthly WWII Open Hangar Day the 2nd Saturday of each month. The event is open to the public and provides an opportunity to get up-close and personal with several WWII era aircraft, and to socialize with the pilots, ground crew, and historians of the squadron. The event is held in the Commemorative Air Force Hangar at Culpeper Regional Airport. The National Capitol Squadron is a chartered wing of The Commemorative Air Force, a national 501(c)3 corporation dedicated to preserving, and maintaining in flying condition, America's military aircraft and to honoring the men and women in all branches of our military.
