Curd Quips: Celebrating American Cheese Month

- Interrupting this local election season with unity before rhetoric is; American Cheese Month. Yes, there is something the vast majority of us can agree on. October, a thirty-one day celebration of not just delicious and diverse cheeses, but the farmers, cheesemakers, retailers, cheesemongers, and chefs who bring them to your table. Vote against that? I think not – that would be un-American.

Photo by Ian Chini. Rev. Ludwell Brown was announced Friday as this year’s Grand Marshall of the Fourth of July parade. He was humbled, honored and so very happy as he accepted the recognition.
- I’ve attended a number of Fourth of July Festival breakfasts throughout my time as editor. It’s always a happy affair learning who will be the Grand Marshall of the parade and who the spirit winners are. This year was no exception but I have to say it was particularly memorable.

- At CCHS’s convocation the Times awarded Athlete of the Year honors to Jermaine Butler and Jessica Stallings.

- At Eastern View, the Culpeper Times selected Bryan Ramey and Josie Kritter as its 2015 Athletes of the Year.

Orange County launches self-guided tours for railfans

- On May 26, 2015, tourism officials and local railroad enthusiasts, better known as “railfans” gathered in the historic Orange County Train Depot to launch their new Railfan tour guide “Tracks Through Time.” The tour connects railfans and novices alike to both the rich rail history of the area and to the railroad presence in the county today.
