Library of Congress Packard Theater Presents - “Casper”

CASPER (Universal, 1995). Based on the popular cartoon character, this family-oriented “ghost story" stars Bill Pullman as ghost psychiatrist James Harvey hired by the cranky Ms. Carrigan (Cathy Moriarty) to rid the rickety old house she inherited of spirits so she can find a treasure trove rumored to be hidden there. Her plan backfires when James's daughter Kat (Christina Ricci) befriends Casper, the friendly phantom who inhabits the place, along with The Ghostly Trio. Directed by Brad Silberling, the family fantasy-comedy was praised for its visual elements, which bring Casper to computer-generated life with impressive special effects and an enchanting production design. Color, 100 minutes.

The Southern Cafe & Music Hall Presents - “Man On A Horse ft. Peyton Tochterman with Dean Fields”

Man on A Horse is the brain-baby of drummer Stuart Gunter. He called up his buddies bassist Randall Pharr, harmonicist Gary Green, and guitarist and songwriter Peyton Tochterman in order to put together a quartet that explores roots American Music and songwriting and present original music in a fresh but classic way. Pharr is a master of the upright. And American Roots UK calls Gunter “an excellent musician.” Green actually beat Blue Traveler’s John Popper in The Harmonica World Championships in Germany. As for Tochterman and his songs, MAVERICK MAGAZINE calls him a “skillful song poet” and Vintage Guitar player says his playing “demands attention.” All that aside, this is a band that you can still just “kick back and drink a cold beer to. ”(Peyton’s Mom) Their music is purely American, certainly Virginian and it is honest, bold, and uncompromising. Sounds like beer add doesn’t it? Well, come take a sip and see for your self.
