The Southern Cafe & Music Hall Presents - “New Boss with Borrowed Beams of Light & Elephant Child”

Formed from the fragments of long-running regional post-harcore/alt-rock band Order (Of the Dying Orchid), Charlottesville's New Boss plays vibrant, rambling power-pop. Gaining momentum when it's creator Thomas Dean left Charlottesville's Invisible Hand to focus on his solo efforts, New Boss quickly took root and began to deliver an expert and exciting take on the swagger and style of its various rock and roll influences--from the loose grooves of late-era Velvet Underground to Big Star and Belle and Sebastian, and all the places in between. Rounding out the group are original Order drummer Parker Smith, Scott Ritchie (Infinite Jets, Great Dads, International Friendly) on bass, Nick Rubin on keys, and Carolyn Zelikow on vocals.
