Wed., Nov. 7 - The following statement was sent to Culpeper Times by e-mail today from Paul Walther in response to his Tuesday night loss to Megan Revis Frederick for the office of Culpeper County Commonwealth's Attorney.

Wed., Nov. 7 - Virginia's 13 electoral votes go to President Barack Obama.

Wed., Nov. 7 - Republican Eric Cantor will remain representing the 7th district of Virginia in the U.S. House of Representatives. Cantor beat Democrat Wayne Powell with 215,498 (58.39%) to 152,916 (41.43%) in unofficial results.

Wed., Nov. 7 - While an early leader, Republican George Allen issues a statement conceding the race to Democrat Tim Kaine. At 12:30 a.m. with only 7 precincts not counted out of Virginia's 2588 precincts, Kaine led Allen 1,875,304 (51.79%) to 1,683,031 (48.02%).

Tue., Nov. 6 - I caught up with Megan Revis Frederick about 8:30 at the Culpeper Cattle Company. The final results had just come in showing that she had defeated Paul Walther in the special election for Culpeper County commonwealth’s attorney.

Tue., Nov. 6 - With all precincts counted in Culpeper, two local races are determined. On the national level, Virginia still hanging in for the Republicans.

Tue., Nov. 6 - Early results have Virginia going red, but it's still very early.

Tue., Nov. 6 - With people still in line to vote, the Virginia Board of Elections will not be reporting results until 8 p.m..

Tue., Nov. 6 - If you haven’t voted yet, know that as long as you are in line at your polling place by 7 p.m. you will be allowed to vote, according to Culpeper election officials. You may have a bit of a wait, however, if you are in the two biggest precincts: East Fairfax and West Fairfax. Voters there reported waits of up to an hour and several said they had to come back a second or even third time as they had not allowed enough time between appointments. It took me 43 minutes from the time I got in line until I walked out the door.
