Thu., Nov. 12 - What isn’t in dispute is that Shawn Berry, while an inmate in the Central Virginia Regional Jail (CVRJ) in Orange, died on Aug. 9, 2014 of the adverse affects of heroin and ethanol abuse. What is in dispute is if jail officials were responsible, through “deliberate indifference,” for the 37-year-old Berry’s death and should be held accountable through a $10 million civil lawsuit filed in U. S. District Court in Charlottesville by Sherry Lynn Thornhill, Berry’s mother and administrator of his estate.
