On January 31, 2013, Stephanie Streight, 41 of Warrenton, Va. pled guilty to two charges of consensual sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old teenage boy.
She also pled guilty to three charges of Carnal Knowledge with respect to another boy who was 13-years-old. The first two offenses (with the 15 year old) occurred in March of last year. The cases relating to the 13 year old boy were based on 3 separate acts in the month of August of last year. The second set of charges occurred while she was free on bail/bond for the first set of charges.
Both boys are Fauquier County residents.
The initial charges (involving the 15-year-old) came to light when a local high school official reported to the Fauquier County Sheriff’s office that he had found sexually explicit text messages from Ms. Streight on the 15-year-old boy’s mobile phone. Investigators soon learned that the boy had been having a consensual relationship with the woman and were able to prove two specific acts despite the 15-year-old's reluctance to cooperate with officials.
The woman had provided the 15 year old with marijuana on several occasions and had engaged in improper relations with the boy on two occasions that could be proven.
In August of 2012, while the woman was on bond and awaiting trial on the charges relating to the 15 year old boy, it came to the attention of the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office that the defendant may be involved in an inappropriate relationship with another boy. Further investigation revealed that Ms. Streight pursued a similar pattern of sexual misconduct with this second boy which also included providing the boy with marijuana. As mentioned above, this second victim was 13-years-old at the time, implicating a code provision including tougher penalties.
Streight will be sentenced on April 22, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Circuit Court of Fauquier County. She faces up to 24 months in jail on charges involving the 15-year-old boy and up to 15 years in prison with respect to the 13-year-old boy. No plea agreements were made on the sentences to be imposed.
As a result of these convictions, she will be required to register as a sex offender. She is currently being held without bond at the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center. Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Abigail Owens prosecuted the case for the Commonwealth.
