Settle issues statement

On Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 16), the Culpeper Times received the following press release via email from Capt. Chris Settle. It was received too late to include in this week's print version of this story.

I was placed on administrative leave by the Town Manager, Kimberly Alexander, by letter dated September 13, 2012. In this letter and the meeting that occurred when I was presented with this letter, there was never any allegation presented to me. On September 19, 2012, in a letter to the Town Manager, I requested written notification of the allegations against me. It has been nearly a month and I still have not been notified of any allegations.

I have served this community for many years and I welcome the opportunity to cooperate with any investigation as to my conduct as a police officer.
