Ruritan turkey shoots now underway

The Jefferson Ruritan Club will be conducting its annual "Turkey Shoots" at the Jeffersonton Community Center every Friday night from now until early December, beginning at 7 p.m.

The center is in Jeffersonton at routes 802 and 621.

Now in its 26th year, this is the longesr running turkey shoot in the area.

Operators are thoroughly trained. Winchester 12-gauge steel No.7 shot, supplied as part of target feels, will be used. Barrels bored tighter than "modified choke" may not be used.

Thousands of dollars worth of beef, turkey ham and other food items will be awarded this season.

All proceeds go to scholarships, local public service organization and other charitable causes.
