ROUTE 639 IN CULPEPER TO CLOSE DEC. 10-23

VDOT will install box culvert at Indian Run; motorists advised to use detour

CULPEPER — Beginning Dec. 10 Route 639 (Holly Springs Road) in Culpeper County will close to traffic for the installation of a box culvert at Indian Run. The closure will remain in place through Dec. 23.

A detour will be posted to direct motorists around the closure. Northbound motorists will turn left from Route 639 onto Route 626 (Black Hill Road), then left onto Route 1170 (Quail Ridge Drive) and back to Route 639. Southbound motorists will reverse the detour.

Virginia Department of Transportation contractor General Excavation Inc. (GEI) of Warrenton will perform the work, which is part of a project to widen and pave a 1.27-mile stretch of Route 639, previously a gravel road. GEI was awarded the $784,067.15 contract in August, and has a fixed completion date of May 17, 2013.

Real-time road conditions and weather forecasts are available on VDOT’s traffic and travel website, www.511Virginia.org. The site also has live traffic camera images for many major highways, including Interstate 64, I-66 and Routes 29 and 250 in Central Virginia. Motorists can call 511 from any telephone in Virginia for road and traffic conditions on all major highways in the state. Call 800-367-7623 24 hours a day to report highway-related problems or request information about Virginia’s highways.
