No children injured in early morning bus accident

Friday morning, Nov. 9, started on a sad note.

At 6:52 a.m. Culpeper County deputies responded to a school bus accident at 8516 Kirtley Trail.

The bus was traveling north along the roadway when the bus driver, a 70 year-old male, reportedly suffered from a health-related issue.

The bus traveled off the left side of the roadway into a ditch.

There were no injuries to the seven Eastern View High School students on board. Students were picked up by parents or others from the scene of the accident.

The driver, Jerry W. Heddings, 70, of Reva, was transported to Culpeper Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
