Mauck leads seven local players on all-Battlefield District volleyball team

Eastern View outside hitter Randi Mauck was today named first team All Battlefield District in volleyball.

Mauck,a senior, who was second team last year, led the team in a number of statistical categories, including kills, as the Cyclones reached regionals.

“I set a goal for myself this year and it was to make first team,”Mauck said of her selection in a Facebook message this afternoon. “I feel very honored to be selected. I was sort of worried I wouldn't be selected, but thanks to my team I was.

“I think I was so successful this year because my team and coaches pushed me to become a better player. If I didn't have a team that had my back on every play it would have been a struggle.”

Senior middle blocker Taylor Young and senior setter Kursten Anderson of Culpeper County High School and junior outside hitter Juliana Schlunz of EVHS were selected for the second team.

Honorable mention went to middle blocker Brooke Downs and libero Josie Kritter, both sophomores, of Eastern View, and senior outside hitter Alseha White of CCHS.

Anna Gallup of Courtland was named player of the year and Courtland Coach Bob Hott took coach of the year honors.
