Friends of Wilderness Battlefield offers activities

On Nov. 3, from 1 to 3 p.m., the public is invited to the afternoon session of the annual meeting of the Friends of Wilderness Battlefield at Lake of the Woods Church.

The event is free.

At 1 p.m. there will be a Civil War presentation lasting about one hour and titled, "Behind the Lines: Confederate Hospitals in the Wilderness During and After the Battle of Chancellorsville.

There will also be a "Hall of History" open to the public and featuring displays relating to Native Americans, colonization, gold mining, African-American heritage, natural resources of the Rapidan and the American Civil War.

Guests who are not residents of the Lake of the Woods community need only to inform the guard at the gate that you are attending the Friends of Wilderness Battlefield program.
