Eighth annual ‘Taste of Culpeper’ is this Sunday

Downtown Culpeper near the Depot will be the place to be this Sunday as Culpeper Renaissance, Inc. sponsors the eighth annual “Taste of Culpeper – a wine, food, and arts festival” happening Oct. 7. From noon until 5 p.m., you can experience the very best in Virginia wines, microbreweries, and local cuisine. Discover treasures for your home and your table from local artisans and crafters.

Fun and festivities for the entire family will promise an enjoyable fall afternoon. New this year: cooking demonstrations from some of your favorite local chefs, including Peter Stogbuchner of Hazel River Inn Restaurant and a former White House chef at 1 p.m.; Frank Maragos from Foti’s Restaurant at 2 p.m. And Aruna Ratnavibhushana of Kababs 'n' More at 3 p.m.

Free activities for children include a moonbounce, art projects, and games. Live music for the afternoon will feature The Gold Top County Ramblers with an opening act from Culpeper native Carley Chilton of Aberdeen Green Music. For the sports fans, an outdoor football lounge will be available with two large screen TV’s.

With your tasting admission to CRI’s Taste of Culpeper, you will receive general admission, a souvenir wine glass to commemorate your day, and free tastings at each of the wineries. If you find one that you like, relax and stay a while as wine will also be available for purchase by the glass or the bottle. Taste of Culpeper wine totes will also be available for purchase to stock up on your favorite wines.

Enjoy all of this in Downtown Culpeper, a recent 2012 winner of the “Great American Main Street Award.”

Advance tasting tickets ($10.00) are available through Saturday, October 6, at the following locations: Vinosity (174 East Davis Street), Randy’s Flowers (211 West Evans Street), all Culpeper StellarOne locations, the Museum of Culpeper History (803 South Main Street), and the Culpeper Renaissance office (127 West Davis Street).
