Cyclones defend Battlefield District wrestling title

The Eastern View High School wrestling team defended its Battlefield District wresting crown last Saturday at Chancellor High School.

The Cyclones, coached by Eric Brown and Eddie Jenkins, won easily with a team score of 292.5 points, claiming eight individual championships.
Winning wrestlers were: Yarhoski Aldiva (106 pounds), Bryan Ramey (113), Kevin Willems (132), Tony Pitt (138), Austin Jenkins (145) Brandon Layher (152), Logan Shurina (160) and James Layher. (285) Taking second place spots were: Brett Shurina, Nathaniel Aldiva, Caleb Weaver, Bryce Willems and Cullen Burnett

All 13 wrestlers qualified for Region 1 competition this weekend at king George High School.

The sole champion for Culpeper County High School was sophomore Dakota Brackenridge at 220 pounds. He, along with runners-up David Counts (132), Nick Monetta (152) and Dartagnan Dwyer (160) are also bound for regionals.
