Culpeper readies for community Christmas tree lighting


Culpeper Downtown Holiday Open House will be Sunday, Nov. 18 from noon to 5:30 p.m. The Community Christmas Tree Lighting will be at 5:30 p.m.

Start your holiday shopping in Historic Downtown Culpeper early for unique finds with personal service from local merchants.

There's lots to see and do including:

~ In-Store Specials ~ Door/Storefront Decorating Contest ~

~ Culpeper Downtown Sunday Art Walk ~

~ Carriage Rides: 1 to 4 pm., departing from the Depot ~

~ Trolley Rides: noon – 5 p.m. various stops throughout downtown ~

~ Culpeper Garden Club Wreaths and Centerpieces at the Hazel River Armory ~

~ A special visit and pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus with proceeds to benefit SAFE: 1 to 4 p.m. at the Depot conference center ~

~ Children’s Story Time by Culpeper County Library: 1, 1:30, 2, 2:30, 3, 3:30 and 4 p.m. at the Depot conference center~

~ Museum of Culpeper History Open House & George Washington’s Thanksgiving ~

~ Miniature Horses from Brandy Manor Miniatures noon – 4 p.m. at the depot ~

~ Windmore Festival of Trees: 12 to 5 p.m. at The Choice Building ~

~ Clore English Funeral Home and ROTC Toys for Tots Campaign at the depot~

~ Culpeper Hurricane Sandy Underwear Drive at the depot ~

~ Meet & Greet at the Sheriff’s Office with refreshments ~

~ Meet & Greet with LOVE art installation artist Roque Castro at the Depot ~

~ Live Holiday Music from EVHS and CCHS Bands on the Hazel River Inn Restaurant front porch 1 to 3 p.m. ~

Join us for a Community Tree Lighting with festive carols from Blue Ridge Chorale of Culpeper. Bring letters to Santa, meet Kris Kringle with toys for each girl and boy, enjoy hot cider, and cookies from Girls Scout Brownie Troop 381 to complete this wonderful day at 5:30 p.m.!
