Blue Ridge Avenue to close for repairs

Motorists using Blue Ridge Avenue as a through street Thursday will be detoured while town public works employees replace a deteriorated retaining wall culvert between Oaklawn Drive and Spring Street.

Barricades will block Blue Ridge Avenue at Oaklawn Drive on the south side and at Spring Street on the north side.

Motorists using Blue Ridge Avenue as a thoroughfare to Madison Road or Oaklawn Drive from the north will need to detour at Spring Street. Motorists headed north on Blue Ridge Avenue will only be able to access Oaklawn Drive, Motorists headed to destinations south of Spring Street should use South West Street or Main Street as alternate routes..

Officials plan to erect temporary detour signs warning motorists of the closure, which will begin about 9 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 13 until dusk.

The construction and detours will happen only if weather permits.

Anyone with any questions may contact the town’s Public Works Department at 540-825-0285.
