© Culpeper TimesImagine focusing on the arts for a whole week this summer and a chance to receive top-notch instruction from a talented array of local artists.
This summer young artists will have the opportunity to explore a different art medium each day including drawing, painting, crafts and a few surprises.
This mosaic of art-based fun awaits your young artist this summer with the Kaleidoscope program, formerly known as the Art in the Park.
This summer the popular Windmore Foundation for the Arts program will have a new name and its registration process will be managed in partnership with the Culpeper County Parks and Recreation Department.
Online registration will begin at midnight on March 8. Office and phone registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. on March 11. The cost is $50 for the week-long program.
The deadline for registration for the program is June 7 for ages 6-8 and June 14 for ages 9-12.
Kaleidoscope is for children ages 6-12 years and runs for five days starting on July 17. There will be three sessions and times for children 6-8 years old from (June 17-21) and two sessions and times for children 9-12 years (June 24-28).
The program will continue its tradition of concluding with an art show to showcase the talents of its young artists.
Culpeper Parks and Recreation is excited to team up with such a successful program, according to its staff.
“It’s a great program and it is already established in the community,” said Tabitha Riley, Programs and Facilities Manager for Culpeper Parks and Recreation. “Kelly Rozwadowski will be our art instructor and on site supervisor and we will handle on site support and registration.”
“We are excited to be a part of this great program,” she added.
Windmore, founded in 1987, has recently consolidated its programs but it will continue to host fundraising events, offer scholarships and promote the arts with the community. It will also continue to offer grants to local artists, musicians and performers in the Culpeper area.
In addition to the Kaleidoscope program, Culpeper Parks and Recreation will begin registration for a host of new programs this spring including Children’s Backyard Adventure, Introduction to Animal Tracking, Wild Plants, Introduction to Self-Publishing, Intermediate Guitar, Little Tigers of Shotokan Level II and a trip to the Baltimore Aquarium and Inner Harbor.
