Happy campers at Camp Fantastic

Held annually at Southwind Farm, it gathers together children facing serious illness and those caregivers who look after them including many in the Culpeper community who volunteer their time. Small local farmers question taxes

- “Is anyone paying taxes on their farm equipment?” a vendor asked during a meeting of local produce farmers selling their goods at the downtown Farmers Market one cold February day.Rumors circulating earlier this year among the small local produce farmers about taxes being assessed by the County of Culpeper on farm equipment used to raise the vegetables and foodstuffs sold at the Farmer’s Market prompted the question.

This fall, the local hospital will join a network in a partnership between North Carolina-based Novant Health and the University of Virginia Health System, known as the Joint Operating Company.

Curd Quips: Celebrating cheese with the community can be challenging

- Everyone has difficult days and stories to tell about their skirmishes with madness, but for some reason, the delivery of cheese is an odyssey on nearly every occasion. For example, last week a collection of nearly 50 pounds of beautiful French cheeses made it from France, through customs, and to cold storage in New Jersey -so far so good. Even better, the same cheese made it to our door in two days. If these were stainless steel parts, the delivery time and news is good.
