Culpeper: Defamation suit against former mayor Coleman dismissed

- The civil lawsuit filed by former Town Manager Kimberly Alexander in January alleging that ex-Mayor Calvin L. “Chip” Coleman defamed her was dismissed in Culpeper General District Court Sept. 5.

Former Virginia Governor and former first lady convicted on public corruption charges

- A federal jury returned guilty verdicts Thursday (Sept. 4) against former Virginia Governor Robert F. McDonnell and former First Lady of Virginia Maureen G. McDonnell for participating in a scheme to violate federal public corruption laws.

Proposed changes to the county’s noise ordinance prompted high decibel level responses

- The county supervisors intent to address noise issues has been ongoing for several months.

- As expected, former Mayor Calvin “Chip” Coleman filed an appeal from the August 20th conviction for sexual battery handed down by General District Court Judge Edward Carpenter, thus setting the stage for a second trial in Culpeper Circuit Court.
